MOD/SEVERE LOCATIONS
Click here for a list of high school cluster area schools that currently provide a Special Education Moderate/Severe separate setting.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation for all programs is limited. Transportation provided per an IEP as a related service is only provided to the pupil's school of residence, or school of assignment by the Special Education department. It is not provided to a school of Choice. Parents who apply to a school other than the resident school or school of assignment waive the right to transportation as a related service. More information about transportation.
CHARTER SCHOOLS
Charters operate independently of the San Diego Unified. Each school has its own enrollment and admissions procedures. For information about how to enroll your child in a charter school, please contact the charter school(s) directly.
UNIVERSAL TRANSITIONAL KINDERGARTEN (UTK) INFORMATION
CA legislation has updated the age requirements for students who are entering Universal Transitional Kindergarten. By the 2025-2026 school year, students turning 4 by September 1st will be offered Universal Transitional Kindergarten at all sites.
While parents are welcome to apply for Choice to UTK, we anticipate that seats will be limited. Parents are urged, therefore, to pre-enroll in the school of residence in addition to applying for Choice for the best chance at an offer of enrollment. Enrollment into UTK via Choice will not be communicated until after resident enrollment has been confirmed, likely to take place in early spring.
The following dedicated Magnet schools will only enroll UTK pupils via Choice, as these schools do not have traditional boundaries: Barnard, Longfellow, Mountain View and Muir Language Academy.
For school year 2023-2024, UTK is offered at all elementary schools with the exception of Language Academy, Logan Memorial Education Campus, Mt. Everest and Virtual Academy. To learn more about UTK, please visit the UTK webpage. For a list of school sites offering UTK, please click here: UTK Sites.
