The Infant-Toddler Program serves children birth to three years of age who reside within the San Diego Unified School District area boundaries and demonstrate a significant delay in at least one area of development or have a condition that might lead to a developmental delay. Eligibility is determined by professionals who review records, talk with families and identify developmental skills by playing with the child. When a child is eligible, an Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP) is developed and a teacher is assigned.
Mission Statement
Our Mission is to provide early intervention services to families of children between birth to three years with special needs. While the primary focus is the infant in need, we serve the child within the context of each family's strength, abilities and expectations. Our program is based upon an interdisciplinary team approach for the education of infants with special needs and their parents. Our goal is to provide the appropriate match between each child's and family's needs with the most effective early intervention options.
Services
Home Based Services
Home visits are a major part of the Infant Program. children learn the most from their parents. You know your child better than anyone else and are closest to him/her. Together, parents and teacher discuss the family needs and spend subsequent visits working on meeting those needs.
Center Based Services
A center-based program may be available to children at age two. A special education teacher and other support staff work on the outcomes specified in your child's IFSP in an enriched social setting. We focus on socialization with same-age peers, which can include children without special needs.
