Meet Principal Jessica Navarra
Dear Baker Community,
It is with great excitement and heartfelt gratitude that I introduce myself as the new principal
of Baker Elementary School. My name is Jessica Navarra, and I am honored to join a
community known for its dedication to student success, strong family partnerships, and a
commitment to lifelong learning.
I was born and raised in beautiful San Diego, and I am proud to be the daughter of parents
who immigrated from México. Their hard work and values shaped who I am today. I am also
a proud mother. My daughter, Brianna, is 20 years old and is preparing to begin nursing
school. Like many of you, I understand the joys and challenges of raising a family while
nurturing big dreams for our children.
I began my career in education in 2002 as a biliteracy teacher in the San Diego Unified
School District. Over the years, I have had the privilege of serving in a variety of roles,
including Common Core ELA Cluster Support Teacher, English Learner Support Teacher, and
Instructional Coordinator in the Literacy Department. Most recently, I worked as a
coordinator overseeing preschools in the National School District. Each of these experiences
has deepened my belief in the power of education and the importance of inclusive, culturally
responsive schools where all children can thrive.
At Baker Elementary, I look forward to working in partnership with you to ensure that every
student feels seen, heard, and empowered. I believe that strong relationships with families
are at the heart of a successful school, and I am committed to open communication,
collaboration, and shared celebration of our students' achievements.
I am thrilled to begin this journey with you and can’t wait to get to know each of you

Estimada Comunidad de la Escuela Primaria Baker:
Es con gran entusiasmo y profundo agradecimiento que me presento como la nueva
directora de la Escuela Primaria Baker. Mi nombre es Jessica Navarra, y me siento muy
honrada de unirme a una comunidad conocida por su dedicación al éxito estudiantil, sus
sólidas alianzas con las familias y su compromiso con el aprendizaje permanente.
Nací y crecí en la hermosa ciudad de San Diego, y soy orgullosamente hija de padres que
emigraron de México. Sus valores y esfuerzo han moldeado profundamente quién soy.
También soy madre- mi hija, Brianna, tiene 20 años y actualmente se prepara para
comenzar la escuela de enfermería. Como muchas de ustedes, entiendo las alegrías y los
desafíos de criar una familia mientras apoyamos los sueños de nuestros hijo/as.
Comencé mi carrera en la educación en el año 2002 como maestra de alfabetización
bilingüe en el Distrito Escolar Unificado de San Diego. A lo largo de los años, he tenido el
privilegio de servir en distintos roles, incluyendo Maestra de Apoyo de ELA del Common
Core, Maestra de Apoyo para Estudiantes del Idioma Inglés, y Coordinadora de Instrucción
en el Departamento de Alfabetización. Más recientemente, me desempeñé como
coordinadora supervisando programas de preescolar en el Distrito Escolar Nacional. Cada
una de estas experiencias ha fortalecido mi compromiso con la educación y con la creación
de escuelas inclusivas y culturalmente receptivas donde todos los estudiantes puedan
prosperar.
En la Escuela Primaria Baker, espero con mucho entusiasmo trabajar en colaboración con
ustedes para asegurar que cada estudiante se sienta valorado, escuchado y empoderado.
Creo firmemente que las relaciones sólidas con las familias son fundamentales para el éxito
escolar, y me comprometo a mantener una comunicación abierta, una colaboración
constante y a celebrar juntos los logros de nuestros estudiantes.
Estoy emocionada de comenzar este nuevo camino con ustedes y espero poder conocerlos
a lo largo del ciclo escolar. No duden en visitarme, saludar o comunicarse conmigo en
